Moonlighter 2 Dungeon Extraction Guide: When to Turn Back

The safest Moonlighter 2 dungeon route is not always the deepest one. Extraction is the bridge between a successful fight and a shop inventory, so the decision should weigh relic value, backpack pressure, healing, route knowledge and the cost of a death.

Leave when the haul has a clear purpose

Turn back when the backpack contains the item or category you came for, when the next branch is unknown and expensive, or when healing and safe exits are running low. The official loop rewards returning with loot; it does not require every run to reach the deepest room.

A simple extraction check

Before opening the next door, ask three questions: can I survive the next encounter, do I know the route back, and would losing this haul damage my shop plan? If two answers are no, extract and convert what you have into information, pricing and village progress.

Endless Vault is different

The Infinite Endless Vault uses one-run gold thresholds after the main story. Falling short resets progress for that threshold, so extraction planning there must account for the required gold shown by the build. No universal threshold number or depth is published.
