Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Gameplay Preview

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault connects an action-RPG dungeon run to a player-run shop and village. This preview uses the Steam listing and the official version 1.0 announcements while leaving exact prices, routes, and combat values for a reproducible build check.

The gameplay loop in one sentence

Steam describes a loop of exploring dangerous dungeons, gathering relics and loot, returning to the shop, setting prices, reading customers, and reinvesting in the village. That is the most reliable answer to “what is Moonlighter 2 gameplay?”: the adventure and merchant roles are designed to feed each other.

  • Dungeon run: explore, fight, and collect relics.
  • Shop step: arrange loot, set a price, and read customer reactions.
  • Progression step: reinvest in the village, weapons, armor, upgrades, and shop systems.
  • Challenge step: push farther into the Endless Vault for greater risk and reward.

Why pricing is part of the gameplay

The official store description says the player sets their own price and reads customers to find the right deal. Steam does not publish a universal item-price chart, so a useful guide should record the item name, acquisition source, displayed reaction, shop state, event context, and game version rather than inventing a formula.

Not yet verified

No exact Moonlighter 2 price, customer multiplier, best shop decoration, or universal profit route is claimed here without a measured in-game entry.

What version 1.0 added to that loop

Version 1.0 released on September 2, 2026 and extended the loop at both ends. The main story now concludes, and past that ending the Infinite Endless Vault turns the challenge step into a gold-target ladder: each threshold has to be cleared in a single run, and falling short of the required gold resets progress on that threshold. The launch post also names four Endless Weapon Aspects, Shop Level 5, the Bomb Path perk path, Hardcore Mode, and new vendors, cosmetics and Codex pages. Those names are confirmed; their damage, prices, unlock conditions and gold targets are not published anywhere.

A clean first-session test

On a real build, keep the first comparison controlled: note the dungeon depth, relic category, backpack state, return decision, sale price, customer reaction, and village option unlocked afterward. Then repeat one variable at a time. That produces a useful gameplay guide without mixing Early Access observations, community claims, and 1.0 marketing copy.

What this preview does not claim

The official sources do not provide a complete item database, exact dungeon map, boss route, weapon tier list, price formula, or save-transfer rule. Those are good search intents, but they need a versioned hands-on entry on the 1.0 build rather than a guess based on the store description.
